Hanseatic cities

When Amsterdam and Rotterdam were still small villages during the Middle Ages, the Hanseatic cities had already developed into powerful trading centres. Trade was largely by water with the first cargo ships of the Middle Ages, the Kogges. In its heyday, the Hanseatic League had no fewer than 150 members, mainly in Germany and the Netherlands, but also in Scandinavia, Poland, Flanders, and even Spain and Portugal.

The 9 Dutch Hanseatic cities are connected by water and have all retained their own unique atmosphere. Art and culture lovers can indulge themselves, but you will also find special shops, galleries, cozy restaurants and cafes. Something for everyone!

From our location, the following 3 Hanseatic cities are easy to visit. You are most welcome!
